Here you have the designer chic restaurant & bar, just the right amount of trendy, in the neighborhood of the Golden Triangle that has seen the closing of the Renoma Café, the Korova, and the great fall of Nobu. Terence Conran has opened his 27th restaurant at 16 rue de la Trémoille. Yes, you have read correctly: the design Pope is today head of the restaurant empire. He possess ( either himself or by association ) notably, 18 establishments in London, 2 in New York, 1 in Japan, 1 in Stockholm, 1 in Manchester, 1 in Birmingham, and now 2 in Paris. Along with the famous Alcazar, the all-new Senso is, contrary to what one would think, not at all an Italian restaurant. The Senso is pleasantly arranged in 3 different spaces: a lounge club with DJ which holds 60 people ( open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ), a bar for having a drink, lunch, or dinner by choosing from a coffee shop style menu, and the main restaurant, with round tables for three or four people and tables for two arranged along the street side. One feels at ease by the gracious volumes, by the hospitality,and the efficient service. The menu offers a sufficient variety of dishes to satisfy all tastes: wild arugala salad with sun dried tomatoes and artichokes, old fashioned stuffed tomatoes, cream of pumpkin soup with parmesan. As for the entrees, the poached daurade is the fresh catch of the day, the crisp vegetables ravioli are to crack for, the Challans duck filet in spiced wine and broccoli puree is purely delicious, the fruit millefeuille irresistible. The wine list opens your horizons to Spain, California, and Chili, without forgetting of course, our little national wines of Bordelais, the Rhône Valley, and the Loire Valley. Directed by Michel Besmond, also heading the Alcazar, the Senso attracts neighborhood clients, of whom quite a few come to spend a long evening wining and dining: which means you may come across people from the fashion and media industries, well anchored there, just a few cable’s lengths away from the Seine. A la carte: from 40€ to 50€. Lunch formula at 28€ and 35€. In the bar: the Senso plate, plus a drink and a café, 20€.
