Comptoir Sud Pacifique: an
invitation to travel
|

Six windows open out onto six holiday scenes:
Island Vanilla, Rain Forest, Tropical Garden, Exotic Orchard, Spice Route
and Sun Waters. Where to begin! And that’s only part of the dream to be had
in the fully refurbished 80-sq.m boutique. Architect Roland Deleur, who also
designed the latest Dior boutique, modelled the shop decor after a hotel on
the Indian Ocean: dark parquet with wide floorboards, walls trimmed in white
wood, display cabinets with louvered shutters thrown wide open to reveal all
your dreams and the Comptoir Sud Pacifique collections.

Swimsuits in Pacific
blue, of course, the brand signature, with fuchsia corded piping or single
tone, matching wraps and beach towels, light-knit twin sets, linen outfits (trousers,
tunics, dresses and blouses) and a full line of leather goods from the beach
bag to the weekend travel set, not to mention the handbag. Pretty suede
tops, trousers and safari shirts have a prominent place on the clothing
racks. “Because suede is perfect for travelling. It’s soft and comfortable
and can be worn all year round,” explains the brand manager. And what choice!
For simple and affordable gift ideas, try a genuine Panama straw hat on for
size, or pretty jewellery made from mother-of-pearl, wood or silver pewter
beads adorned with turquoises. Neither mother nor daughter will be able to
resist!A line of jewellery made from South Sea pearls will soon complete the
collection. |

No, the men haven’t been forgotten. Swimming trunks are
waiting for them all year long. History of BrandComptoir Sud Pacifique –
it’s not new. The 30-year-old brand recently went through a major life
change 18 months ago. It was bought by two associates who also decided they
needed a professional change and launched their first company in their own
name. President William Millet isn’t new to the game. An international
fragrance director at 54, he left Chanel to embark on this adventure with
his Givenchy counterpart, Benoît Rouquayrol de Boisse. As big travellers
themselves, they have in-depth knowledge of international markets. But above
all, they have had the opportunity to enjoy some of the world’s most
beautiful holiday destinations such as French Polynesia, Mauritius Island
and the Bahamas.
