Surfers’ paradise, a touch of Australia in Paris…
Who originated Brontibay (a combination of Byron Bay and Bronti Beach, two surfing Meccas in Sydney)? Its three creators are Australian Penelope, who paints ceramics, her companion Olivier and designer Maud, who have combined their talents to offer Parisians a line of supple, full-grain leather bags.
They have opened a shop in the Marais quarter where you can find the entire line of Brontibay bags as well as products the trio highly recommends. Among these are Neal’s Yard Remedies, with a base of essential cedar or lavender oils, and the Australian MOR beauty care line, which includes body creams and fig or olive soaps and shower gels.
In the shop, such products as a “countrified” leather bag with printed plane-tree leaves, a tiny round bag in bright-coloured leather, a baize carrier bag and lambskin gloves with silk lining and a metallic buckle are united in a minimalist décor of white walls punctuated by a few old wall stones. Once you have made your choice, you can bring it to the opaque glass, neon-lighted counter at the shop’s centre.
In the heart of the Marais district, Brontibay offers bags and beauty products you’ve never seen before.
