•Post

Post offices are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. A very practical exception: the Poste Paris Louvre, 52, rue du Louvre (1st), open 24/7! Metro : Louvre-Rivoli. Tel. : 01 40 28 76 00. Stamps can be purchased at post offices and at tobacconists.


•Banks, exchange and tax
Most banks are open from
9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. from Monday to Friday and some branches are also open on Saturday mornings. You can exchange money in train stations, airports, major bank offices and foreign exchange counters which have the advantage of remaining open late at night. Find out about the currency buying and selling rates by the establishment before the transaction. Non-EU residents are exempt from VAT (no duty) on purchases of a minimum of 175€ inclusive of VAT at the same store. Take your passport and ask for the duty-free form.


•Loss and theft
In all cases of lost or stolen papers, report the loss or theft at a police station and keep the receipt given to you for subsequent procedures.

The main tourist office is located on the Champs-Elysées and is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, from
11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
